A wet and windy Mooragh Park failed to spoil a competitive match between two teams introducing new players, welcoming back others and looking for candidates to step up. Douglas took control via the scrummage and were dominant with Ben Dutnall, Aaron Mason and Dave Sherwin helping the visitors in under the posts via new addition number 8 Chris Beaumont and a Jack Moore conversion. Ramsey front row injury had referee Adrian Shimmin make scrums uncontested for the bulk of the match and Ramsey scored a converted try to level. Tries from the impressive Connor McCaughan returning from injury, and Nathan Knights in lieu of a penalty try for 7 – 21 after conversions from Moore put Douglas in the driving seat, but the second half was a little scrappier as weather worsened. Tyrone Smith rumbled under the posts after 55 minutes following great work from Mike Osbourne, Alex Cain and Ollie Mealin, and full-back Charlie Henthorn impressed again, until Shimmin blew time on his second match of the day.
Scorers – Tries Conor McCaughan, Chris Beaumont, Tyrone Smith, penalty try
