A BIG THANK YOU
TO THOSE SUPPORT CREWS AT HOME
Wives, girlfriends, families, parents
It goes without saying Douglas Teams success relies on more than the players, its about the whole family. The sacifices that are made by wives, girlfriends, families, parents each week for our Douglas Lads to travel is amazing, and a big part of Douglas Rugby Club's success. The Birthday meals missed, the countless jobs around the house not finished are impacts the rugby season have on most rugby households. We're all in this together and we couldn't succeed without your support.
Here's a few awesome messages from a few of the players partners & families:
I immediately felt welcomed into The Douglas rugby Community this year coming down to support Harry and Douglas. There is a great family culture at Douglas, especially on Saturday home games, it is always a great night with good people.

This is the first season I’ve watch Joe at Douglas 1st team and I have loved supporting them, both at home and away matches nearer to my University! There’s always a great spirit & a welcoming atmosphere at the exciting games, especially winning against Birkenhead Park.
It would be good to do some more socials next year with the team!
Well.... You don’t get to spend much time together, between training and game day then Sunday is almost always a write off. However Liams mood is changed dramatically, he just loves rugby. When he can’t play he’s a pain In the ass! I love going to watch the games and supporting the whole team, it’s a great place to be on a Saturday afternoon. Meeting new people, having a few drinks and getting to know people from all different worlds is really nice!
Rugby season means joyful camaraderie cheering on our heroes from the sidelines...occasionally in the sunshine but most often freezing our
off in the driving rain! Hilarious court sessions after games and waking up to a limping, bruised, horrendously hungover husband most Sundays. Love DRUFC!

Rugby days are always jam packed between getting ready early to head to training before the game and the aftermath of cuts and bruises the following day is what playing rugby is all about. I don’t know where owen would be without rugby, he spends most of his time either playing rugby or watching it on tv. The whole atmosphere at the pitch on Saturday’s is crazy, meeting new people on the side line and being surrounded by the general buzz of the game is amazing!
Our whole relationship has involved rugby, so I don't know anything different! Rugby is definitely Sam's first love, and the reason we got together 4 seasons ago. I spend most weekends nursing my bashed up boyfriend, nagging him to ice his injuries and putting bio oil on his scars...I love taking care of him though. I'm not a fan of the early morning drives to the airport...but it stops me lying in and I get so much done on a Saturday when he's away! I always have to nag him to take his scrum hat, gum shield and inhaler...but I feel relieved when I know he is as protected as possible. I lose a few hours of my day on home game Saturdays...but it's worth it for the sense of pride I get watching him and his team. The hospitality on offer at the club is great, and it's good to get some fresh air on what would otherwise be a busy day. You can have a real day out at DRUFC. There are a couple of negatives but the positives definitely outweigh them, as most important of all Sam loves rugby and the club and I love anything that makes him happy. If it wasn't for rugby I would never have met him!
Lots of bants Warmth, sunshine and crossing the line Morgan’s pies and lots of try’s Muddy rucks and lots of luck Annes lasagne while getting a tan, yeah The girls, blue WKD, BBQs and cricket, always making Ralph pay for my season do ticket Cheeky naps in the physio room, hoping to see you all soon!
DRUFC means family to me. Our families involvement with Douglas spans over 4 decades. It’s somewhere I grew up and now I’m fortunate enough to watch my girls have the same enjoyment with family and friends. Saturdays are just not the same unless you’ve been down the club come rain or shine to watch a game. I dread the day Niall finally hangs up his boots and starts getting under our feet, him sulking on the side line is no fun for anyone
Douglas rugby club has been a massive part of my life for the past ten years, first as supporter, girlfriend and now wife and mother of the next generation of players. I’ve met some of my closest friends down there and had some of the best days out watching the games, and even though things are a lot tamer 10 years down the line we are still often the last to leave on a Saturday evening with 3 kids in tow!
Sorry for those not included, the players are terrible in returning information.
